Melissa Healey is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and Designated Linklater Voice Teacher based in Jupiter, Florida. She trained in the Feldenkrais Method with Elizabeth Beringer in Functional Integration® and Awareness Through Movement®. Her approach is grounded in curiosity, attention, and respect for each person’s individual experience.
Melissa brings 20 years of experience teaching voice, movement, and communication. She spent a decade on the acting faculty at Emerson College, where she served as Head of Voice, and has also taught at Boston University, The Boston Conservatory, Shakespeare & Company, and internationally. She continues to teach Linklater Voice alongside her Feldenkrais practice and works with professionals on voice, leadership, and presence.
With a background as an actor and longtime teacher of performers, Melissa has a particular interest in working with artists and creative people. She is interested in the conditions that allow us to move beyond unnecessary effort and self-interference, access greater spontaneity and responsiveness, and become more available to the creative process.
Melissa has also completed extensive training in Somatic Experiencing®, Peter Levine’s body-based approach to trauma resolution and working with the effects of stress on the nervous system.
